Indio, CA --- March 20, 2017 --- The Farmworker Institute of Education and Leadership Development (FIELD Institute), would like to cordially invite you to attend an event on March 24, 2017 where we will formally announce the certification of our conservation program by the State of California.

Cesar Chavez FIELD Corps (Kern Service & Conservation Corps)   program will provide training and employment opportunities in education, environmental conservation and restoration for hundreds of Coachella Valley youth.  With this official designation by the state’s California Conservation Corps and CalRecycle, the County of Kern’s Waste Management Department will now enjoy integrated support from our Kern Service & Conservation Corps (KSACC) to help meet state recycling mandates for discarded tires, beverage containers and used oil.

Please join us on Friday, March 24 at 10:00 AM at the Veteran’s Memorial Park,  (Directly behind Coachella City Hall located at 1515 Sixth Street) as we celebrate our local Cesar Chavez FIELD Corps program’s certification.

FIELD CEO David Villarino and KSACC Director Anthony Chavez will be making more detailed remarks about this certification and acknowledging the people who have made this possible. These include keynote speaker California Assembly member and chair of the State Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee Eduardo Garcia; representatives from the Riverside County Supervisor’s Fourth District; City of Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez, Coachella City Council Members and others.  Assembly member Eduardo Garcia and Mayor Hernandez will address the media attending this event as well.

The Cesar Chavez FIELD Corps is proud to take proactive steps towards enhancing the community. The celebration will take place as the Cesar Chavez FIELD Corps works to develop partnerships with Coachella Valley stakeholders whereby Cesar Chavez FIELD Corps will serve in various local community conservation/recycling projects.  .

East Valley Coalition – Regular Board Meeting March 16th

Coachella Valley Association of Governments

March 29, 2016

Tom Kirk
Executive Director
Coachella Valley Association of Governments
73-710 Fred Waring Drive, Suite 200
Palm Desert, California 92260

Mr. Kirk,

As the Manager of the East Valley Coalition, I am pleased to provide a letter of support to the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) for the efforts to secure TIGER funding for CV Link East. This proposal will connect five Coachella Valley cities and provide a safe route for pedestrians, cyclists as well as those who use golf carts and neighborhood electric vehicles.

The East Valley Coalition is an alliance formed in 2015 between the cities of Coachella, Indio and La Quinta and Riverside County to manage, coordinate and promote economic development in the region. CV Link East complements our mission for the region, as it provides connections to employment centers, education and entertainment. The construction of CV Link East will create hundreds of temporary jobs and it is expected that new businesses such as bike share companies will develop once it is built.

In the Coachella Valley, the nearly $6 billion tourism industry is our biggest economic driver. CV Link East will become a critical part of what we can market to our visitors. It also will greatly enhance the health and wellness attributes of our region.

I hope your application for TIGER funding is looked upon favorably. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.

Sincerely,

Bob Wright
East Valley Coalition Manager
