As the Manager of the East Valley Coalition, I am pleased to provide a letter of support to the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) for the efforts to secure TIGER funding for CV Link East. This proposal will connect five Coachella Valley cities and provide a safe route for pedestrians, cyclists as well as those who use golf carts and neighborhood electric vehicles.
The East Valley Coalition is an alliance formed in 2015 between the cities of Coachella, Indio and La Quinta and Riverside County to manage, coordinate and promote economic development in the region. CV Link East complements our mission for the region, as it provides connections to employment centers, education and entertainment. The construction of CV Link East will create hundreds of temporary jobs and it is expected that new businesses such as bike share companies will develop once it is built.
In the Coachella Valley, the nearly $6 billion tourism industry is our biggest economic driver. CV Link East will become a critical part of what we can market to our visitors. It also will greatly enhance the health and wellness attributes of our region.
I hope your application for TIGER funding is looked upon favorably. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.
